Rio de Janeiro-based studio Cadas Arquitetura has designed another House in Itaipava project.

Completed in 2011, this two story contemporary home is located in Petrópolis, also known as The Imperial City of Brazil, about 40 miles (65 km) from the city of Rio de Janeiro.

House in Itaipava by Cadas Arquitetura:

“Located in the mountainous region of Rio de Janeiro, the residence of 1200m2 surrounded by mountains, rivers and vegetation, serves as home for a young couple from Rio.

The architectural and structural party blend modern lines with a cozy interior, typical of architecture of this region.

The idea that the garden was part of the house results in a open space plan and glass facade continuing the existing balconies all around the house, bringing the exterior inside.

With the large scale of the balconies, it is possible to have thermal comfort inside the house, eliminating the use of air conditioning, even in a summer days in Rio de Janeiro.

With magnificent view over the garden, the front porch becomes the most important point of the house, allowing a visual integration with the other spaces: garden, swimming pool, living room, library, dining.”
