Casa PDR 385 is a private residence designed by FRA G MENT OS and located in Leiria, Portugal.

The home’s spacious interior emphasizes minimalism in its design, creating an atmosphere of serenity.

Casa PDR 385 by FRA G MENT OS:

“The plot is in Praia D’El Rey – Golf and beach resort, Óbidos. It has 1,932 m2 (20,800 ft2).

The Southeast façade (parallel to the road) is where the entrance is. The Northwest façade (facing the sea, golf course and swimming pool) is where the living rooms and bedrooms are.

The ground floor plan is, basically, a square shape with some covered recessed terraces. The first floor plan is, also, a square shape but totally different, from the ground floor, having its 4 uncovered terraces between all the rooms.

The exterior facades, on the ground floor, have “slices” of wooden feature that gives us an horizontal look, to the square shape, of the house.

The house has two floors above ground, plus a sauna / gymnasium underground – by the swimming pool, with a glass to the inside of it.

The main entrance of the house, inside, has a double high glass ceiling – preceding, and announcing, the double high of the Living room.

The living room is the central element of the house, it works has a big/wide hall, it gives us the perception of all the dynamics of the house. It has a view to all the doors of all the rooms, bedrooms, cinema rooms, kitchen, etc – always with the pool, sea view and golf as real scenario, in front.

The large concrete spans, and the wide window panels, in the living room, creates a strong relationship between the interior and the exterior of the house – sea, garden, golf and swimming pool area.

The stairs, to the first floor, were made in two different concepts, materials and shape, to create link/division between the two floors.

The 4 bedrooms, in the first floor, are accessed thought a wide mezzanine – that has a magnificent terrace facing the sea view.

There are 6 bedrooms in total. 4 bedrooms have sea view with covered terrace (ground floor) or covered veranda (first floor), and 2 bedrooms have golf views, share a separate terrace, and have access to a large roof terrace. All 6 bedrooms have their own bathrooms. The main bedroom also has its own exterior garden with a spa/jacuzzi, screened by vertical wooden posts to allow privacy. One, of the 6 bedrooms, has an exclusive entrance from the exterior, not connected from inside the house.

There are 2 garages in the house. One of the garages is for 2 cars, the other one is for bikes, kayaks, surfboards, golf clubs, etc. The cars zone has direct access to the house, the bike’s hasn’t. The second garage is located in the North façade, next to the service entrance – where the kitchen and the technical area are.

The kitchen (with its laundry and pantry) is accessed from the main entrance hall and from the dining room too.
From the main entrance hall we also have access to a toilet, a multi storage room and to the car garage (recessed behind the stone part of the stairs).”
