The Golf House by Studio 15b:

“Completed in late 2014, this new home is located within an established residential suburb of Brisbane over looking a beautiful treed golf course. It has been designed for a golf loving, retired couple who like to entertain their large family that visit regularly from Brisbane and abroad.

The design aims to take advantage of the golf course outlook beginning from the first moment you step inside the front door. Visitors are welcomed with a view from the entry directly down the centre of the exterior swimming pool and the treed outlook beyond. The entry space divides the home between the private spaces such as bedrooms and bathrooms from the public zones of open planned living, dining and kitchen. The polished timber floor of the entry also delineates the public and private spaces and continues, following the view, externally to the pool decking. The double volume entry space is flanked by a stone clad blade wall with openings framed in thick reveals of timber veneer. High level glazing ensures it is a natural light filled space. The extra large lighting feature bobs within the void and becomes moon-like at night.

The Golf House has been designed with electric buggy access from the rear of the home directly onto the course. When putting practice is required there is their own personal putting green in the back yard directly outside the outdoor entertaining area. It also serves to entertain the grandchildren and other guests.

The owners see this home as the one they want to live in for as long as their health allows. It is for this reason that a single storey design was incorporated which enables ease of travel throughout the home with no internal stairs. The final result is one of light filled luxury, with a relaxed natural feel of stone, timber and glass that takes advantage of a beautiful treed outlook. It has been purposed designed to take this retired couple long into their life with plenty of space to entertain along the way while making the most of the golf course lifestyle.”
