Have you ever thought about what a house made entirely from concrete might look like, or perhaps about what kind of decor scheme might suit something as unique as a concrete house? Personally, we’d never actually seen a house made of concrete and when we imagined such a thing, we pictured it being cold, dark, and not necessarily pleasant for making a home in. The moment we saw pictures of Concrete House, however, we completely changed our tune and saw the beauty in such an unconventional idea!

Concrete House is a shockingly beautiful residential project that was conceptualized and designed by Marte.Marte Architects. Located in Austria, the concrete walls of the house are perfect for keeping cold winter weather out part of the year and providing a cool, shady haven from the hot sun in the summer.

From the outside, Concrete House looks nothing short of intimidating. It’s comprised of completely smoothed industrial looking cement cut into straight, precise lines. Large, stunning windows break up the staunch gray surface, but metal entrance gates give it the look of a strong fortress. Even so, it looks somehow pretty nestled into the surrounding greenery.

Going inside the house, however, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by how cold and unwelcoming the house doesn’t feel. In fact, thanks to some expert interior design work, Concrete Home is quite homey in each room! It certainly has a modern feel thanks to floors that use the same concrete as the walls, contemporarily shaped white furniture, and several stunningly clear glass walls.

You’ll find, however, that the aesthetic inside is quite warm thanks to comfortable seating areas and beautifully stained wood that covers the floors, counter tops, tables, and even the ceiling in some rooms. If you’re really like some relaxing comfort, try hunkering down with a pillow and a blanket in one of the window seats, position to look out the big picture glass and onto the lovely view like some sofas would face a TV screen.

Outside of the home, but still within the walls of the veritable concrete fortress, you’ll find even more comfortable relaxation space! The backyard boasts a stunning pool with ample space for sunny tanning chairs. Thanks to the concrete walls of the entrance gate and surrounding house, the pool area is private and quiet, making it the perfect summer spot.
