The architectural firm CoLab Arquitectura was the studio hired to design this small home, with a young family in mind. It has a total area of approximately 80 meters squared and is located in Christchurch—known for its English heritage—which is located on the east coast of New Zealand’s South Island.

The designers were inspired by the local architecture, which is itself characterized by a set of simple forms and shapes.

Its interior contrasts with its dark exterior; inside, the spaces mostly employ white or a light-colored wood, whereas black is only used in the modern furniture. These pieces include, for example, the set of couches in the living room, one of which is upholstered in gray, while the other is of black leather. These are, finally, combined with a set of black chairs.

The dining room utilizes a combination of the wood employed in the kitchen and the black employed in the living room. In this way, they manage to seamlessly integrate all three spaces.

Beautiful walls of painted wood cover the different rooms, maintaining in this way a certain uniformity to them, as well as maintaining the decorative style in each of the different areas of the residence.

The small bedrooms with linen textiles appear welcoming in their simplicity, while the bathroom, which completes the particular space, makes use of reduced and modern accessories.
