Rooiels Beach House by Elphick Proome Architects:

“Elevated above dune fynbos on a rugged ocean peninsula, this vacation beach house is a steel framed structure able to be opened to connect with its extraordinary site on all sides. The

exo-façade is a bespoke top hinged timber slated screen system and all internal divisions neatly slide away to create a single space in daytime.

A hull shaped roof reveals various views to surrounding mountains while the openness of space yields an uninterrupted view of the ocean.

Rendered in modest finishes, this house presents a minimalist solution with tactile materiality in an extraordinary context.”
