Have you ever dreamed of designing your own home that’s themed after or designed around your biggest hobby or your favourite way to spend your spare time? If you’re going to invest the time and money into creating yourself a custom space, you might as well incorporate the things you love doing most, right? That’s how some of the most creative and impressive homes in the business are built!
Emphasizing a favourite activity was certainly the prime focus of designer and architect Andrea Mosca Creative Studio when they created Bookshelf House in 2016. Located in Paris, France, this stunningly bright space boats a lovely patio, a spacious kitchen, and well-sized childrens’ rooms already equipped with fun, bright storage units that are perfect for toys and little clothes. These fantastic things, however, aren’t even the most impressive part of the house.
As you might have surmised by the name of the home, Bookshelf House is, in fact, chalk full of books! That was the intention of the designers when they planned and created walls and walls of contemporary looking layered shelving space that just happens to be perfectly sized for all different kinds of books. We’re not just talking one or two shelves though. We’re talking walls and walls of books ready to be browsed, read, fallen in love with, and re-read later! Of course, what would a book-centred house be without a cozy reading book? These designers chose comfortable, contemporary looking sofas to create a space surrounded by the shelves and dedicated specifically to enjoying the books we all adore so much.
