When you picture your ideal home, do you imagine something calming, chalk full of soothing colour schemes and smooth, pleasant materials? If we could, we’d live in a house that looks like a spa all year round to feel as relaxed as we might leaving our latest massage or facial. That’s exactly what the designers of Jade Apartment were going for in their aesthetic and design!
Jade Apartment is a stunning residential project that was created and designed by notable architectural firm Ryan Lai Architects in early 2016. Located in Taipei City, Taiwan, this gorgeous house perfectly blends spa inspired style with comfort in a way that looks both modern and homey all at once.
Walking into the house, you’ll immediately notice the emphasis on beautifully finished light wood. The tables, shelves, kitchen island, and even some of the walls are all made of a stunning natural wood that perfectly mirrors the kind of calming, natural materials you might actually see in a high quality spa. That wood is contrasted with smooth black leather and crisp white pendant lights and ceilings to keep things visually balanced.
Perhaps the most unique thing about the apartment, however, is that it really does feature several features that were designed for the purpose of keeping the home relaxing and calming in the same way as a spa. One room, for example, features a low wooden coffee table spattered in candles and surrounded by floor cushions, giving the entire room the feeling of a meditative haven. Down the hall, you’ll find a temperature controlled wine storage room that looks like more of a steam room. Imagine living in place that is, by design, the most relaxing place you could possibly return to after a busy day at work!
