A House in the Woods in the South Downs National Park
By Magaly • Jun 14, 2017
For me, and I know that also for many people, one of the greatest pleasures in life is to enjoy and spend time in nature. Its smell, its color, its sound, each of these sensations connects us with it in a unique and incomparable way.
This wonderful home is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty, within the South Downs National Park, in Hampshire, England, in the United Kingdom. The house sits on the site of a bungalow that had been in the family for over sixty years.
It covers a total area of 240 square meters and was designed by the architectural firm Alma-nac in the year 2016.
The customer was certain that he wanted to maintain eye contact with the exterior, even while being inside, and that is why glass was used on the doors and the walls, in order to enjoy the views and allow the light and greenery of the gardens to fill every space.
It has beautiful terraces that create a transition between the wonderful gardens and the interior of the house. There, the light-wood floors accompany all the spaces and seem to guide us through the house.
The high ceilings, accompanied by glass walls, prevent us from forgetting where we are, and emphasizes the tranquility and peace that is to be found in nature.
