Studio 30 Architects Refurbish and Extend a Standard Georgian Terraced House in London, England

Do you come from a family of avid learners and scholars who are always looking for creative spaces to learn new things and grow their imaginations? Going out of your way to set yourself up somewhere new while you’re studying can be fun and productive, but sometimes you just need to hunker down at home and really get things done. Imagine, then, how awesome it must be to own a home that’s actually designed for things like studying, creation, and great productivity? The Study House is a perfect example of what we mean!
The Study House, a private residence that was refurbished, extended, and completely transformed by creative teams at Studio 30 Architects, is located in New Cross, London, England. The house, which keeps bright, natural lighting, comfortable seating, and other things that are important to working from home, was completed in 2015.
Thanks to the ingenuity of the designers, you might notice upon entering the house that the study spaces built into the home aren’t the typical stuffy desk areas that you might find on a university campus or in an old library. Instead, these architects built gorgeous sunlit rooms with skylights that shine down onto sprawling wooden tables flanked with chairs that allow group study, or even just spread out individual scholarship. Would you rather study outside on a warm day? Then the stunning patio nook complete with comfy but supportive seats and a table that’s almost as big is nestled into the greenery, all ready for you to sit and read at. Maybe you’d prefer an actual room to dedicate just to your work? Then head on upstairs and check out the actual study, a room complete with a big, efficient desk, a chair that will keep your posture right while you work, and even an easel, just in case your studies are based in the more artistic faculties.
Perhaps the best part of the house, however, is that the designers understand that adults aren’t the only ones learning and studying on a regular basis. Kids need spaces for good productivity too! That’s why the backyard features a cute built-in play structure that has a cozy hanging seat swing that’s perfect for reading in between games. Even the kids’ bedrooms are geared towards great sunlight, comfortable places to sit, and hours of comfort for expanding the mind.
