Aukland-based husband-and-wife Nicola and Lance Herbst of Herbst Architects have designed a beach home located just a short walk away from Kaitoke Beach on the Great Barrier Island, the fourth-largest island of New Zealand’s main chain of islands.
This bach, a New Zealand term for a back-to-basics beach house, like every house on the island, is off the grid.

Completed in 2009, this 1, 829 square foot, one story home is located on Great Barrier Island, New Zealand.
