In 2009, Níall McLaughlin Architects designed it to withstand the elements while preserving a few elements of the original structure.

The architects have refurbished and extended a now 689 square foot one bedroom, one bath cottage located in Dalkey, a suburb of Dublin and seaside resort in Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County, Ireland.

The 3,089 square foot house, with it’s elevated living accommodation, allows “the fluidity of the surrounding landscape remain uninterrupted, whilst also giving the occupant a raised vantage point from which to engage with nature.”
