The Mad River Modern by Yankee Barn Homes:
“The Mad River Modern, a newly finished contemporary home tucked away in the Green Mountains of Vermont, is the first of its kind for Yankee Barn Homes. The homeowners knew they wanted an energy efficient, modern style home that complimented their active lifestyle. Faced with the decision of buying vs. building, they quickly realized that finding a pre-existing home that met their design goals would be virtually impossible; a custom built home was the answer.
At the time, Mid-Century Modern was unfamiliar territory for Yankee Barn Homes, a custom prefab post & beam company based out of NH. The company prides themselves on design versatility and is always looking for the next challenge to expand their capabilities. After seeing firsthand the exceptional quality of the home package components and their energy efficiency potential, the homeowners were sold on working with YBH to help bring their dream mountain home to life.
The Mad River Modern comes in at 2,577 square feet of living space, 3 bedrooms, and 2.5 baths. Additionally, an optional walkout basement adds another 832 square feet of finished living space with potential for an extra bedroom and full bath.
The features of this Yankee Barn™ follow along with the original intentions of the Mid-Century Modern style. This contemporary design was intended for a sloped build site, but would work equally well on a level lot. An open floor plan and floor-to-ceiling windows allow for maximum natural light and panoramic views. A neutral color palette emphasizes the natural warmth of the post and beam frame throughout the home. The open living area seamlessly progresses outdoors to the first floor waterproof deck, overlooking the Green Mountains of Vermont. The patio directly below is protected from inclement weather making it a great space for entertaining, even on a rainy day.”
