Are your architectural and home decor tastes best described as a unique blend of streamlined contemporary and comfortable wooden chic? This might not be a concept that you hear about often but it’s one that makes for a beautifully calming and casual home, just like you’ll see inside the House Savukvartsi in Vantaa, Finland!
House Savukvartsi is a residential project that was built and designed by the architectural and interiors firm Honkarakenne in 2014. Its strikingly gorgeous wooden interior is lightly stained and finished but still looks natural enough for the knots in the wood to show across the surface from top to bottom. The monochromatic effect of having a consistent finish also makes the house stand out on the street in a wonderfully subtle way that lets the windows really stand out.
Inside the house, the decor adheres to that same wooden monochrome idea, giving it the kind of naturally calming effect you might find in a wood finished spa. At the same time, however, designers have blended smooth white surfaces and glass walls and doors to incorporate a more contemporary minimalist feel within the comfort of the natural wood. Despite its size, the effect of the home’s decor is that of a cozy haven throughout.
