Margarido House, a Contemporary Energy Efficient home by Onion Flats

By - Categories: Eco-Friendly, Houses, Interior Design, Selected Work   Add a comment

This 4,650 square foot single family home in the hills of Oakland, California, overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge and all of San Francisco, was designed by Onion Flats to merge comfortably into it’s difficult and steeply sloped site while providing a tranquil setting for a couple and their two children.

This house has an array of sustainable features: it incorporates a planted green roof garden, photovoltaic panel system which generate all necessary electricity for the home, and solar thermal panels which provides pre-heated hot water to the house.

The  Margarido House was one of the first LEED-H Gold single-family homes in the State of California.
