This contemporary renovation is a 2012 project by Altius Architecture that is located in Georgian Bay, Ontario, Canada.

The updates include an open concept kitchen and valance lighting for a light, airy atmosphere.

Parry Sound Renovation by Altius Architecture:

“Originally built in 1970s, the renovation of this 3000 square foot semi-circle floor plan is located on a bare granite escarpment and radiates towards an elevated view of the beautiful Georgian Bay.

The sprawling single story plan frames views of the bay through an abundance of south facing windows and patio doors along the entire lakeside facade. A round reading nook centers the layout abutting a three sided internal fireplace creating a central focal point on the main floor.

This full renovation left the majority of room layouts intact, but included the resurfacing of all interior spaces. The previously enclosed kitchen was rebuilt to incorporate a modern open concept layout freely connecting a pantry area, breakfast retreat and dining room.

The original fireplace was removed to allow for the installation of a three sided substitute with a concrete surround and backlit shelving to delineate the open concept kitchen, dining and living rooms while providing a warm glow to all parts of the main living quarters. The master bedroom and ensuite are appropriately located at the end of the bedroom wing for privacy.

A clean white interior and the use of valance lighting keep the large floor plan light and airy, whilst accommodating space for new accent furniture, cabinetry and fixtures; simple aesthetic solutions for an irregular floor plan layout.”
